Career

1980–1986Studied medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, graduating with the grade “Excellent”.
1986–1990Specialist training in anaesthesiology at Theagenio Cancer Hospital, Thessaloniki (general and regional anaesthesia in general surgery, urology, thoracic surgery, ENT and gynaecology; intensive care unit; pain clinic), with secondments to G. Papanikolaou Hospital (pulmonology), Panagia Hospital (cardiology), Hippokration Hospital, Thessaloniki (paediatric surgical and obstetric anaesthesia), AHEPA Hospital (neurosurgical anaesthesia), and AHEPA and Cleveland Clinic (cardiac surgical anaesthesia). On-call duty with the mobile emergency unit of EKAB (National Centre for Emergency Care), Thessaloniki.
1990Qualified as a specialist in anaesthesiology with the grade “Excellent”.
1990–1991Compulsory rural service at the Sindos regional health clinic, Thessaloniki, and, on educational leave, specialised training in cardiac surgical and obstetric anaesthesia at Cleveland Clinic (USA).
1991–presentSpecialist anaesthetist at Geniki Kliniki (General Clinic of Thessaloniki) in the general operating theatres, and permanent associate in the delivery suite (obstetric and gynaecological anaesthesia).
2009Joined Fertility Clinic as an associate doctor.

Contributed to the textbook “Elements of Perioperative Medicine” (N. Balamoutsos, Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine of Northern Greece).
Contributed to several scientific papers presented at conferences or published in scientific journals.
Instructor at the EKAB training school for emergency medical crews.
