Other causes of infertility

Hormonal disorders, autoimmune diseases
Various disorders have a significant effect on ovulation and on the production of the necessary hormones. This happens with diabetes, thyroid disease, galactosaemia, obesity, anorexia, tuberculosis and autoimmune diseases, which have a negative effect on the release of the reproductive hormones.
Toxic causes
The use of drugs, nicotine and alcohol has a negative effect on reproduction. Women who smoke are more likely to have blood-clotting disorders and miscarriages, and on average take twice as long to become pregnant as non-smokers.
Tumours, polyps
Benign and malignant tumours can have a negative effect on fertility by acting on the lining of the uterus (endometrium) in a way that disrupts the menstrual cycle. In addition, polyps can block the fallopian tubes and stop the egg from being transported.
Psychological factors
Recent studies have shown that psychological factors also have a negative effect on fertility.
